Summary
Responsible for ongoing maintenance and of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment
Qualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below arerepresentative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum Qualifications
• Level I Technician requires one to three years of field experience servicing generator systems not limited to residential applications,capable of preventive maintenance, operational understanding of automatic transfer switch’s and performing load banks.
• All Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED equivalent, related military experience or equivalent field experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals and policies and procedures.
• Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
• Ability to safely perform physical labor in an outdoor setting, including the physical demands of working in extreme hot and cold temperatures, and lifting and installing replacement parts, generator system components, batteries and other heavy objects.
• Must observe all safety standards.

• Ability to deal with customers where tact may be required to maintain continuing harmonious relationships.
• Computer fluent, with specific attention to ERP systems, email and Microsoft Office products.

Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNo Supervisory Responsibilities
Essential Functions• Daily travel with independent work structure• Provide 24x7 “on-call” services as required unless on PTO or Off Call• Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments• Battery installations and replacements• Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment under contract as scheduled• Customer contact and interface• Communicate availability status to corporate office• Protect company proprietary information, manuals, and records• Use of electronic and electrical test equipment as necessary• Coordinate and manage all on-site subcontractors hired by PSS as necessary• Maintain company vehicle in safe and operational condition• Ensure that work is performed to PSS standards• Complete all paperwork, including Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other job required reports timely and accurately• Maintain Technical documentation for study and/or review• Willing and able to attend training as company deems necessary• Own and maintain personal set of mechanical tools• Cross train in other areas as neededPhysical Demands
Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work. Physical Activity: 85% physical activity required on customer site working with equipment, 15% form completion, email, other administrative tasks and completing technical support activities by way of telephone and computer communication.
• May involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-75 pounds).• Frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands, to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms.• Combination of climbing and balancing to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.• Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to Protective Glasses, ProtectiveGloves, and Protective Footwear as required.• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to read computer screens, paper documents, equipment.• Ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals.• Up to 10 consecutive hours driving heavy duty truck.• May be required to work long and unpredictable hours.• Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally and hear others speaking.• Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background check, drug testing and MVR clearance.
Work Environment
• Work is 85%+ in an outdoor environment in all types of weather.• The environment is varied since the performance of the essential duties is at customer sites.• Must be willing to travel out of market/state up to 25% of the time.• Requires exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as temperature and noise extremes, vibrations, machinery, hazardous materials, confined spaces, traffic hazards, and various chemicals.
