Ford Motor Company Backend Developer in Ottawa, Ontario

The Back End Developer candidate will be working to build a cloud-based platform to drive the development of Ford’s global Release & Update capability across millions of vehicles

The candidate for this role must be able to adapt in a rapidly changing environment and drive consistency of purpose for a complex organization. Prior experience in driving cross functional teams in multifaceted technical and regulatory constrained environments is essential. The candidate will have demonstrated strong collaboration in delivering technical initiatives, quickly turning concepts into functioning code. Prior experience in cloud software engineering or embedded systems in associated industries is an advantage.

The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Partner to deliver against the technical vision, technical strategy, and KPIs for this function – time from code to deploy.

  • Develop world-class systems – that include security and safety critical systems.

  • Drive data discipline and best practices through the organization.

  • Ensure projects and roadmaps are progressed appropriately.

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Computer Science or Software Engineering or related field of study

  • 3+ years developing APIs using back-end technologies such Go or Python

  • 3+ working with relational and/or NoSql databases, database design, and SQL Queries

Our preferred requirements:

  • Masters degree

  • Worked with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform

  • Experience with embedded build

  • CI experience with GitHub Actions or Jenkins

  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies. Docker, Kubernetes

  • Understanding of security best practices in web development

  • SaaS development experience

  • Demonstrated time in role working in a multi-disciplined organization focused on delivering development efficiency

  • Excellent communication skills both up and down the organization to achieve the desired results.

  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrated examples of applying systemic thinking, logic and reasoning skills to be able to identify opportunities, alternative solutions or approaches to problems.

  • Organizational skill: Strong collaboration skills, clear and concise direction coupled with an ability to move within the organization to complete work and balance tradeoffs.

  • Experience with SBOM
