Job Description:

Parsons has a position open for a Municipal Engineer to work with the team in the preparation of difficult and complex municipal servicing, grading and drainage design, engineering layouts and design drawings utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge. This position is located in our Ottawa Office (Hybrid). Experience working on municipal infrastructure design and construction projects is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Interprets and ensures conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures. Understands and utilizes more advanced software to complete assignments.

  • Produce conceptual and detailed drawings of diverse municipal infrastructure and demonstrate working knowledge and design experience in the following areas: municipal roads, underground linear infrastructure included water facilities, sanitary sewers, storm/water drainage systems, grading and drainage, culverts, new land/site developments and upgrading of existing facilities.

  • Works closely with Engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design. systems. Meets municipal engineering layout requirements and develops alternate design layouts of systems as required.

  • Ensures compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications. Reviews supplier data and supplier/manufacturer drawings, as required.

  • Checks orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) drawings prepared by others

  • Performs checking procedures as appropriate to the discipline and assigned by immediate supervisor.

  • Asist Project Managers and/or Senior Engineers in the preparation of construction contract tenders including quantities, specification writing and assembly.

  • Assist Project Managers and/or Senior Engineers with utility coordination, identification of utility conflicts and utility relocation.

  • Assists in training lower-level Designers in various procedures.

  • Utilizes Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam Revu 2019.

  • Utilizes Microstation & Civil 3D to perform various design work.

Requirements:

  • P.Eng. or registration as an EIT in good standing with PEO along with 5+ years of experience.

  • Experience with the design of municipal servicing (water and sanitary) and storm water management infrastructure (sewers, Low Impact Development measures, etc.) as related to integrated road renewal and/or site plan (re)development design projects.

  • Bilingual English/French is not required but is preferred.
