Human Resources Representative


Specialty Food Group (SFG) - Owensboro, KY

Summary:

Specialty Food Groups (SFG) is looking for an experienced and motivated Human Resources Representative with an established track record for achieving results and a decision-maker skilled in implementing new ideas. We are growing pork processor and want people that want a challenging yet rewarding position. The Human Resource Representative will manage the onboarding process of hourly employees from initial contact through onboarding and provide support for other employee life cycle functions including attendance tracking, job bids, and processing employee changes in our payroll system.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with department managers for staffing needs and on boarding to meet KPI targets
  • Administrator of the union pension plan responsible for handling employee questions and processing required documents as needed
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Maintain human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database to ensure employee records are accurate
  • Responsible for hourly recruiting and supports the Corporate Recruiter in hiring salaried employees.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as required or needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, OLS, or related field
  • 5 + years' experience in a Human Resource Generalist role
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationship, establish trust, communicate effectively, and foster cultural change
  • Working knowledge of I9 and E-Verify process
  • Solid communication skills (verbal, written and listening)
  • Solid understanding of human resource processes and knowledge (i.e. Employment Law, Recruitment, Selection, and Retention, Employee Relations, Compensation)
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, recruit, and retain team members
  • Strong PC skills to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Kronos, and Applicant Pool
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Experience working in a union environment is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
