Emory Healthcare/Emory University Assistant Professor of Physics, Tenure-Track in Oxford, Georgia

Oxford College, a unique two-year liberal arts undergraduate college within Emory University, invites applications for a tenure-track position in physics at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in August 2025. We seek applications from candidates who can contribute to the educational and intellectual vibrancy and diversity of the academic community through their teaching, research, and service.

Prospective candidates will have a commitment to excellence in teaching as well as engagement in an active research program with the potential to involve undergraduates. The Oxford Science Building, which opened in 2016, is designed to promote student-faculty collaboration, scholarship, and innovative teaching in STEM. The Oxford College Center for Teaching and Scholarship supports faculty with mentoring in teaching and professional development.

The successful candidate will primarily teach courses that contribute to the introductory and sophomore-level physics curriculum and will have the opportunity to develop other courses for majors and non-majors, including a first-year discovery seminar. The teaching expectations for this position are two lectures and two labs, or the equivalent, each semester. In collaboration with our colleagues in the Physics Department of Emory College of Arts and Sciences, the physics faculty will have an opportunity to contribute to the future vision of the undergraduate program in physics. We anticipate that this person’s work will directly influence the growth, focus, and culture of the physics program at Oxford College.
