Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is currently seeking a Vehicle Engineering Department Manager to manage the Sub-Systems Engineering groups for the Palmdale Organization. This leadership position is located in Palmdale, California .
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the department and will assume ultimate responsibility and accountability for its success.
The selected individual will perform the following job duties:
Oversee a team that includes both managers and engineers between 70 - 120 people.
Be responsible for staffing, recruiting, performance reviews, timecard approval, career development, and department technical oversight.
Strong technical leader in the aircraft sub-system field able to coach and mentor both leaders and engineers
Support program needs in terms of staffing projections, non-advocate reviews, tools and training/development
Be responsible for process and procedure creation
Expected to participate in Independent Review Teams, Staffing Review Boards, Basis of Estimate reviews, and other various programmatic initiatives as well as Sector initiatives.

Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience
5+ years of leadership experience and managing both leaders and engineers
5+ years of experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager.
5+ years providing technical leadership of an engineering team
Must have an Active DoD Secret Clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) or PAR/SCI clearance within a reasonable amount of time, as determined by business needs
Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
An Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
Experience in vehicle engineering: liaison, subsystems, structural analysis or structural design.
Proven history of leadership Experience with TeamCenter or equivalent PLM software
Experience with NX or equivalent CAD software
Experience with MES
Experience interfacing with industry customers
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate within a team and across team environments
Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously
Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
Ability to lead an engineering or cross-functional team

Salary Range: $187,000 - $280,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
