The vacancy: Operations Manager Machining

The Machining unit of Fokker Landing Gear produces parts for the landing gear of the most well-known helicopters and airplanes. We are responsible for final products of the highest quality. As an Operations Manager, you will ensure this complex operation runs smoothly without jeopardizing deliveries. Additionally, you will build a driven team and work towards even higher quality, production, and safety standards. Interested in a challenging management position in an inspiring technical work environment?

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage the team leads and ensure production proceeds according to schedule, budget, and quality. You will guide and facilitate your team leads and help them develop their skills through intensive coaching.

  • Coordinate tasks and deliveries with our customers' representatives, maintaining full insight into the status of assignments to make timely adjustments.

  • Drive continuous improvement in teams and enhance our standards wherever possible.

  • Achieve goals related to quality and error reduction, safety and environment, and the health, welfare, and performance of your team.

  • Create and maintain our open and honest culture, where people work safely, respect each other, support one another, and take responsibility.

  • Contribute to the strategy development and implementation with colleagues according to the Hoshin-Kanri process.

What you'll bring

Working in a technical production environment where each day is unpredictable and results matter is your strength. You excel in devising creative solutions to tackle problems and keeping processes and production on track. You achieve this not from behind your desk, but through positivity, communication skills, and genuine interest in your team. You motivate and engage your team leads and shop floor staff in transformation and process improvement projects.

In addition, you bring the following:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, such as mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or focused on Total Productive Maintenance.

  • Extensive management experience in production and/or maintenance, repair, and overhaul. Note: your unit works in metal and surface treatment and sheet metal, not with composites.

  • Proven experience with process improvement and change management in a production environment.

  • Experience with Lean in a production environment.

  • Fluency in Dutch and in English.
