Education: Bachelor or Master degree of Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university is required.

Registration: Professional Engineer (PE) registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 15 or more years of relevant industrial experience in controls and automation engineering.

Job Summary:

  • Lead the design and execution of complex Controls + Automation engineering projects. This role demands extensive experience in process control, automation, instrumentation, and Functional Safety engineering, utilizing advanced techniques and analysis. Work is conducted with minimal supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support CSIA Certification efforts.

  • Follow department standards and policies.

  • Understand project scope, specifications, and design criteria.

  • Communicate scope and design changes promptly.

  • Assist on-site during startup.

  • Apply knowledge of PSM and Process Safety standards (e.g., IEC 61511).

  • Develop and document conceptual designs for SIS’s PHA & LOPA.

  • Analyze PHA & LOPA results, SIL Calculations, Safety Requirement Specifications, and Functional Safety Assessments.

  • Configure and commission SIS logic solvers.

  • Guide and coordinate with less experienced engineers.

  • Produce estimate-level designs and material take-offs.

  • Create detailed design calculations, sketches, and installation specifications.

  • Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies for efficient engineering solutions.

  • Design control systems focusing on maintenance and client expectations.

  • Check other engineers' work for accuracy and compliance.

  • Consult with design leaders and advise senior engineers on design changes.

  • Assist in developing scopes, drawings, and specifications for procurement.

  • Review vendor and discipline drawings for Controls + Automation.

  • Conduct fieldwork for data gathering and construction support.

  • Accurately estimate task completion and forecast hours.

  • Develop design criteria and scope of work.

  • Demonstrate strong virtual team skills and cross-divisional collaboration.
