Work Tasks to be performed
· SPRAYER: The worker will operate a tractor with a mechanical sprayer attached containing Pesticides /fertilizers used during the crop growing process. This task is under the direction of the
· Equipment/Spray Supervisor. Spray applicators mix into a spray tank and apply pesticides using the provided equipment. They must be capable of loading and transporting pesticides, fertilizer and
· water via tractors or water trucks. Maintains an inspection checklist for equipment to report preventive maintenance and minor repair; oversees compliance with label requirements; responsible for the
· safe storage and use of pesticides in conformance with all regulations. Must obtain WPS handler certification card to mix, load, spray/apply any pesticides. (Any sprayer activity would be under the
· supervision of a licensed spray applicator.)
· Additional tasks include:
· ·Operate other farm equipment as needed (ATV,UTV, Forklift, Platforms)
· ·Maintain work area, chemical storage area, and equipment in a condition that promotes good safety practices including daily equipment inspections. Personal protective equipment (PPE) required for
· each work activity, per label requirement.
· ·Performs other duties as assigned.
· ·Additional certification may be necessary for pesticide application, but not required for pre-hire.
· ·Workers may drive company vehicles to transport crops, supplies, tools, or farm workers if the workers have a valid driver's license from either a state in the U.S. or their native country. The driver's
· license is not a pre-hire job requirement. They may drive workers from living quarters to worksites and vice versa and provide one weekly trip to workers to purchase groceries. Drive times may fluctuate
o depending on the nature of the crops, business needs, and weather conditions.
o Tying, taping, or clipping apple/cherry limbs and grapevines to wires or tapes.
o Tying up or down apple/cherry limbs and grapevines using string or tape.
o Training and limb positioning of apple/cherry trees and grapevines.
o Scoring limbs with a blade near a bud to help promote branching.
o Shoot thinning, sucker removal, cluster thinning, shoot positioning, hedging, or leaf removal.
o Propping and supporting apple/cherry trees and grapevines.
o Training may be performed from a motorized platform, from a 12-foot ladder the employee erects, or from the ground.
