Job Summary
As Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for the research, characterization, and product development of power supply solutions for automotive applications.
Responsibilities
Perform research, development, and design of power supplies for automotive applications using the company’s products.
Develop techniques and methods to optimize power supplies using the company’s products and contribute to improving the PI Expert Software Suite.
Assist in new product development and explore new applications for PI’s IC products.
Design, implement, test and characterize automotive switching power supply units (PSU) using the company's products for documentation, training materials or customer requirements
Evaluate, document, and optimize switching power supplies built with the company’s products.
Provide design support and technical advice to the company's customers
Develop technical application materials for publication and presentation at technical conferences, industry seminars, trade magazines, and data books
Other duties related to the role as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related fields
Excellent understanding of Power Electronics or general electronics engineering fundamentals
A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Power Supply Design Engineer or design experience in any of the following areas: power converters/conversion/management, switch-mode power supply units (PSU), inverters, power electronics design equipment, analog electronics design, control loop design and power magnetics design (transformer, chokes or inductors)
Good written and oral communication skills with experience in technical report writing
Good command of spoken and written English
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Good learning capability and willingness to pursue further education
Resilient under stress, even in challenging situations
Strong organizational skills
Team player
Preferred
Experience designing power electronic circuitry for automotive applications, industrial electronic equipment, or consumer devices
Experience in circuit design and layout of printed circuit boards with CAD systems (e.g., Altium Designer), simulation tools (e.g., Micro-Cap, Simetrix/SIMPLIS), and 3D modeling tools (Solidworks)
A good understanding of Power Electronics PCB layout design is a plus
Experienced in supporting products going into mass production
Knowledge of international standards (e.g., DIN EN, VDE, IEC, ISO)
Good knowledge of power electronic components (e.g., IGBT, MOSFET, SiC MOSFET, Gate Driver) or inverter systems
