THIS POSITION OPENS UP 1/16/2025

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Possess knowledge of ground support equipment and their systems and operation, to include troubleshooting and repair of ground support equipment electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems and/or components.

  • Must have a working knowledge of aircraft and ground safety procedures, applicable maintenance/technical manuals, basic tools, special tools, and test equipment.

  • Must have all required personal tools and box established within 30 days of hire or job assignment.

  • Uses publications to inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul ground support equipment and respective systems.

  • Required to become “O” Level Support Equipment Wheel and Tire qualified and certified.

  • May be required to perform Collateral Duty Quality Control Inspections (CDQAR\CDI).

  • Familiarization with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and other applicable Navy Instructions, Maintenance Instructions, Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Breakdown, Technical Directives, Manufacture manuals and Company Instructions.

  • Coordinate with Leadman/Supervisor/Quality Control to resolve questions concerning serviceability and/or on repair procedures.

  • May be required to assist other mechanics/senior mechanics within the work center/division in the performance of their duties, (i.e. during periods of increased workload).

  • Document all work accomplished and maintain maintenance records IAW COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and other applicable instructions.

  • May be required to perform off-site service.

  • May be required to perform duties of SAA Accumulation/Point Source Coordinator when authorized and designated.

  • May be required to wear a respirator while performing assigned duties

  • Know location of material safety data sheet and applicable safety precautions.

  • May be required to perform scheduled/unscheduled inventories.

  • Maintains the highest ethical personal and professional standards.

  • Other projects and initiatives as assigned as well as other reasonably related duties when directed.

Physical Requirements:

Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed fifty (50) pounds.

Working Environment:

The diversity of working conditions may range from a standard climate-controlled environment where there is no physical discomfort, to a non-climate-controlled environment, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards

Professional Requirements, Qualifications, and Desired Competencies:

  • Satisfactory completion of U.S. Armed Forces Aviation Ground Support Equipment Maintenance School other schools with equivalent curriculum.

  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years “I” level experience as a Support Equipment Hydraulic/Mechanical/Cryogenic/Electrical Mechanic including corrosion detection, treatment and prevention.

  • Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.

  • Must have a valid State Driver’s License.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC Card.

  • Certifications/Licensing as required by the Program Training and Certification Manual.

  • Certifications/Licensing as required by the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series.

  • Must be able to pass periodic medical surveillance evaluations which may include respirator fit testing when required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance within 6 months of hire.

  • Must be able to work weekends, other shifts and overtime as required.
