Basic Job Functions: As the Head of Automation, Digital Transformation, you will be responsible for spearheading the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge Industry 4.0 and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology solutions at the enterprise level for First Solar. You will partner with leaders in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, R&D, IT, and HR to establish vision for enterprise level industry 4.0 with goal to create end-to-end AI technology framework that will drive higher efficiency, optimize processes, and transform decision making. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 15 years of experience in Manufacturing with focus towards engineering. Proven track record of successfully designing and implementing automation solutions that drive operational efficiency and business growth. Deep understanding of industry 4.0 technologies including machine learning, AI algorithms, robotics, and IoT applications in manufacturing. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage complex projects across multiple locations and teams. A strategic mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, make data-driven decisions, and drive results in a fast-paced environment. Required Skills/Competencies: Python, Java, C#, VB or other programing languages. Project Management: Agile or Scrum Methodology. Automation and Control Systems Manufacturing Process Improvement Essential Responsibilities: Is responsible for developing and implementing Engineering Standards related to Industry 4.0 which will be guide design and implementation of core platforms and processes. Develops standardized approach to evolving factory of the future concepts such as: Digital Transformation, Connected Services, AI/ML based decision making, Digital Twinning, and Data Management across organization. Collaborates with industry peers around new emerging technologies which have potential to transform business practices and deliver superior busineEss value. Develops a comprehensive roadmap for the integration of Industry 4.0 and AI technologies into the company's manufacturing processes. Conducts thorough assessments of current systems, identifies gaps, and formulates actionable plans for automation implementation. Leads the evaluation, selection, and integration of automation tools, including AI, machine learning, robotics, IoT devices, and data analytics platforms. Recruits, mentors, and manages a high-performing automation team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. Drives the implementation of smart manufacturing practices by leveraging AI, machine learning, robotics, IoT, and other emerging technologies. Other duties as assigned. Travel: Travel required during a given year. 10% - 20% Estimated Salary Range: $203,400-$295,000 annually.
