IBM Network Engineer in Perth, Australia

Your role and responsibilities

Managing and operation of IT hardware, software, communications, and/or application solutions, and the resources required to plan for, develop, deliver, and support properly engineered IT services and products to meet the needs of a business preparation for new or changed services, management of the change process, and maintenance of regulatory, legal, and professional standards, management of performance of systems and services in relation to their contribution to business performance, and management of bought-in services including, for example, public network, virtual private network, and outsourced services

  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)

  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations

  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability

  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning

  • Provide Level-1/2 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues

  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure

  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team

  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

Required technical and professional expertise

'- At least 2 years plus of experience

  • Understand on a basic level how a public cloud environment works.

  • Should understand on a basic level of how a firewall works.

  • Must have previous experience of working with Fortinet (or any other vendor) routing, switching and security products

Desired Attributes and Skills:

  • Proven hands-on network engineering experience.

  • CCNA or equivalent certifications required.

  • Fortinet product experience is required.

  • Understanding of the differences between an IT and an OT environment.

  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)

  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model

  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools

  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent certifications.
