Xylem Aftermarket Manager, Flygt AC Pump in Pewaukee, Wisconsin

SUMMARY

Manage the Technical Service Engineers, Technicians, & Order Administrator including scheduling and oversite of engineering & technical activities related to aftermarket services and repairs for the Flygt AC Pump - Pewaukee Operation. Responsibilities to include establishing work assignments for TSEs, Technicians, & Order Administrator oversight & development of direct reports, repair inspections, proposal preparation, margin establishment, participation in establishing, maintaining, and improving plans and processes to quote, process, and complete orders and projects related to the aftermarket business. Coordinate efforts with the Operations Manager to complete work in the FPO shop or in a vendor’s facility in an efficient and timely manner. Coordinate field service and training requirements for new unit projects and repair projects as needed with FPO personnel and/or external sources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage Technical Service Engineers, Technicians, and Order Administrator.

  • Supervise contract engineers and technicians on occasion in addition to direct staff.

  • Distribution of workload for the aftermarket projects amongst TSE’s and management team in conjunction with the Aftermarket Manager.

  • Evaluation of assigned personnel’s performance, workload, training needs, and development.

  • On time oversight and completion of pump inspections, proposal preparation, and commercial negotiation for aftermarket projects assigned to team.

  • On time design for assigned projects, including supervised personnel, to ensure customer requirements and specifications are met or exceeded.

  • Collaborate with Operations Manager and Production Supervisor on the development of a coordinated plan for shop labor and workspace for repair jobs.

  • Develop and execute engineering solutions to solve customer problems and warranty issues, partnering with cross-functional colleagues across the business.

  • Engage with suppliers on design, tools, and manufacturing processes.

  • Provide disposition on parts and components.

  • Provide support to the customer support team.

  • Review and approve quotation margin levels on all aftermarket business in accordance with Xylem policies and management team.

  • Travel to customers and vendors to resolve problems.

  • Perform field service on pumps for customers (i.e. installation, repairs, start up, etc.). This includes pump and system vibration analysis and review.

  • Participate in and lead process improvement initiatives to continuously improve the aftermarket workflow and efficiency.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE -Minimum Requirements

  • Preferred - BS Mechanical Engineering

  • 10+ years of pump design, manufacturing, and field service.

Specialized Knowledge RequiredIncluding any required certificates, licenses, and registrations

  • Pump Mechanical Design Knowledge

  • Pump Hydraulics Knowledge

  • Manufacturing Processes Knowledge

  • Vibration Analysis Experience

  • Office: Standard office equipment, work usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements.

  • Shop: Manufacturing environment including lifting, crane operation, grinding, & disassembly & re-assembly of pumps.

  • Travel: 25 to 50 % as required for company & customer meetings and field service work at jobsites.

  • Misc. Field Sites: Comply with all local and customer jobsite requirements including any required training and drug & alcohol policies.

In addition to the above, the performance of other related duties may be required.

Salary range:

$93,900.00 - $169,000.00
