Lead Finisher (Metals)

Job description: Oversees a team of finishers, ensuring the final quality of products by directing their work, inspecting finishes, and maintaining high standards while also performing finishing tasks themselves, maintaining all queues assigned to finishing department that will include bandsaw, EDM, in house heat treat and helping other departments as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership :

Assign tasks to finishing team members, monitor their work progress, provide training and guidance, and address any quality concerns.

• Quality Control:

Perform thorough inspections on finished products, identifying and correcting any defects or inconsistencies to meet quality standards.

• Problem-Solving:

Troubleshoot issues that arise during the finishing process, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.

• Production Planning:

Collaborate with the production supervisorto ensure efficient workflow, meet deadlines, and optimize finishing processes. Daily updates on progress of parts via email and/or meetings.

Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.

• Safety:

Enforce safety protocols within the finishing area and ensure team members adhere to proper handling of chemicals and equipment.

Qualifications/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of experience as a skilled finisher in the same or relevant industry.
• Prior leadership experience.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, high pressured, and fast paced environment.
• Ability to comprehend production requirements.
• Proficiency in using specific software applications like Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements:

• Able to Lift a minimum of 50lbs.
• Push/pull heavy objects with proper equipment.
• Wear appropriate assigned PPE.
