Paramount Newscast Director in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

CBS News Philadelphia is looking for a Newscast Director. The ideal candidate will be responsible for directing fast paced newscasts, driven by breaking news, as well as public affairs shows, webcasts, and sports specials. If you can implement a clean tight newscast in a fast-paced environment and want to play a part in a dynamic, winning news operation we want to hear from you. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct live, fast-paced newscasts as well as streaming and other programs using the Sony ELC automated production system.

  • Serve as Assistant Director for newscasts and other programs.

  • Perform other studio support as needed.

  • Work closely with producers and news department on developing high quality, technically clean newscasts, and programs.

  • Apply technical expertise and creative style to create interesting productions within accepted guidelines and standards.

  • Direct and/or provide production support for special sports and entertainment programs, including both studio and remote productions.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degree or equivalent preferred

  • 5+ years of experience coding and directing 'live' newscasts and other productions in a medium to major market.

  • Willing and able to work any shift in a 24/7/365 working environment, including weekends, overnights, and holidays.

  • Experience with Sony ELC preferred but will consider Ross OverDrive

  • Ability to multitask in a live news broadcast environment.

  • Working knowledge of control room and studio equipment

  • Experience with newsroom computer systems; iNews preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proven ability to function well in a team environment.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Attention to detail and time management.

  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent computer skills on common computer platforms
