Assume responsibility for an on-going, innovative research project as a Postdoctoral Fellow at CHOP. Our postdoc experience will broaden your skillset, scientific background, and research capabilities.

About the Laboratory The Chan Lab at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and innovative postdoctoral researcher with interests in climate change and environmental sustainability. The postdoctoral fellow will focus on research related to biodiversity conservation, reducing pollution, and mitigating climate change as strategies to improve global health outcomes. This position offers the opportunity to enhance skills in data analysis, draft manuscripts for publication, and contribute to grant applications. Our lab's portfolio includes a broad range of initiatives, such as multi-country clinical trials, epidemiologic cohort studies, and innovations in technology and data science.

Conduct systematic reviews of the literature and analysis of climate change on maternal and child health outcomes as well as interventions to improve sustainability Analyze datasets to address research questions and contribute to co-authoring manuscripts Lead and support data management activities including cleaning and analysis Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and partners on projects, including developing study protocols, obtaining IRB approvals, and implementing research activities Contribute to grant writing, preparation of technical reports, and dissemination of research findings

Strong quantitative and analytical skills

Excellent verbal, written, visualization and interpersonal communication skills

Proficiency in STATA or R, with evidence of clear coding skills with detailed annotation

Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a culturally diverse and international team

Two or more years of technical expertise and project management skills in conducting research studies

Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and excellent time management, with meticulous and consistent follow-through of projects are required

Problem-solving mindset and a goal-oriented work ethic

Experience working with institutional review boards, regulatory bodies, and academic and governmental institutions

Responsibilities

Participate in project planning, recording, and evaluation of data.

Conduct independent scholarly research, developing new methods and protocols under the guidance of a mentor (principal investigator).

Acquire technical, lab management, and grant writing skills.

Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions, national presentations, and professional workshops.

Supervise junior lab members.

Assist with other research projects as needed.

Education

Required:Doctorate

Preferred; Doctoral degree in epidemiology, statistics, data science, or a related field

This is position has potential for renewal based on performance and funding.
