Summary:

We're looking for a Software Engineer 1 - Full Stack to join our talented, collaborative, and close-knit team at Temple University to build web applications that serve our university community, which includes students, faculty, staff, alumni, and prospective students. As a member of the UX Team, you will be involved and mentored to participate in all parts of the software development cycle. You will design and develop integrated, best-practice web applications to support departmental and university-wide applications with a special aim toward streamlined user experience, accessibility, usability, requirements gathering, design, development, testing and integration, deployment, and maintenance. You will also develop additional functionality and integrations with existing vendor-provided applications, including the university's main information systems and the related Oracle database environment. You'll be working with colleagues from different areas of the university, providing analysis and recommendations to improve user experience for the university community. You will be working with multiple technologies, including but not limited to modern frontend website creation tools and techniques, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular JS, Java, Spring Framework, SQL, designing for all devices, and basic photo editing skills. Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of related technical experience. Experience developing web-based applications in Java. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular JS, Java, SQL and/or other web application frameworks. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

*Basic knowledge of backend and frontend development tools. *Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular JS, Java, SQL and/or other web application frameworks. *Understand basic principles of responsive web design, user and accessibility. *Basic working knowledge of querying a relational database.Willingness to learn to create and modify database objects. *Basic knowledge of Linux and ability to perform routine commands. *Ability to build relationships with clients; awareness of processes to collect requirements and document use cases. *Take initiative to learn the environment, understand the tech stack, internal ITS process and procedures. *Familiarity with troubleshooting web applications. *Ability to apply time management skills and manage your own projects with minimal supervision. *Ability to work nights and/or weekends, if necessary.

Preferred Skills:

*Familiarity with practices needed in building web sites that meet compliance with Section 508 and 504 requirements for accessibility. *Working knowledge of Adobe suite.
