Area Vice President of Surgery

In this position you will be responsible for the development of all surgical sales activities for the US while achieving growth targets in line with Abiomed’s goals. The Area Vice President of Surgery will be responsible for creating a team culture that drives for results while ensuring we are always putting our patients first. This position is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and management of the sales and clinical leaders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs surgical sales performance.

  • Develops the surgical sales plan to fulfill the assigned growth and revenue goals.

  • Responsible for ensuring maximum sales volume of the Company’s surgical products.

  • Manages all aspects of the sales function including clinical support teams.

  • Sets sales goals and forecasts and is responsible for hiring and training sales and clinical personnel.

  • Develops strategies for launching new accounts and greater penetration in existing accounts.

  • Establishes effective communications with executives and managers across the company to ensure proper sensitivity to the needs of sales.

Qualifications

  • BS or advanced degree, MBA Preferred.

  • 7-10 years of experience medical device cardiothoracic surgery space

  • 5 years of management experience of a field commercial team

  • Track record of success in managing a sales organization

  • Ability to gain cooperation of others and lead team members

  • Ability to negotiate and influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking in fast paced environment

  • Ability to exercise judgment in selecting, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

  • Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively, and frequently (oral and written)

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of SAP desired.

  • Willingness to travel, domestically and internationally (75%)

This role can be based anywhere in the United States with up to 75% travel.

For U.S. applicants, in accordance with applicable disclosure requirements, the anticipated base pay range for this position is $120,000 to $180,000. The Company maintains a highly competitive sales incentive compensation program. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for participation in this program in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. This position is eligible for a car allowance through the Company’s Fleet program.

§ Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

§ This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.

§ Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

  • Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year

  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year

  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year

  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
