POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, Couriers are responsible for picking up and transports specimens, reports, and supplies following a designated route.
CORE FUNCTIONS
Provide clients with consistent and high-quality level of service through effective communication, picking up specimens, delivering lab results, and supplies. Ability to effectively organize reports and supply deliveries to ensure client’s expectations are met.
Operates company vehicle. Responsibilities include daily vehicle inspection, operating the vehicle in a safe and defensive manner by utilizing the principles of Smith System, and ordering required maintenance.
Utilize mobile data terminal to accurately record routine and will call client stops, specimen counts and types. Responsible for reporting client route information. Couriers shall strive for zero missed specimen pick-ups.
Communicates with dispatch by radio or telephone on all service-related issues.
Trains new couriers on routes.

Department responsibility only, although provides service for internal and external customers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS
Ability to stand, climb, stoop, bend frequently; positions require considerable physical activity. Able to tolerate exposure to conditions which may include toxic chemicals, bio-hazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, heights, high temperatures or confined spaces. Must lift up to 25 pounds. Able to use proper body mechanics to lift supplies and equipment and push carts and dollies weighing up to 500 lbs. Needs adequate color vision. Must wear protective clothing as required. Some positions require ability to drive to various locations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Able to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires valid Arizona driver's license.
Must be 18 years of age.
Ability to understand and follow instructions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
