Position Profile: Delivery & Set Up Driver

As a Delivery & Set Up Driver, your mission is to ensure the efficient and safe pick-up, relocation, and delivery of office equipment. This role may require the installation and networking of devices and basic training for customers. Your professionalism and adherence to safety standards can significantly influence future customer purchase decisions. Meeting all federal DOT requirements is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver office equipment safely and accurately to designated locations.

  • Maintain logbooks as per DOT regulations (both electronic and manual).

  • Conduct pre and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring safety and cleanliness, and compliance with DOT and state laws.

  • Perform pick-ups during deliveries to minimize costs.

  • Execute basic connected installations, including setting up IP addresses, downloading print drivers, removing hard drives when required, backing up/uploading customer address books, and providing basic customer training on printing standalone and network devices.

  • Participate in Safety Programs and achieve expected productivity levels.

  • Exhibit strong technical skills and excellent customer relations.

  • Identify customer needs and take appropriate actions or refer calls to the appropriate party.

  • Provide constructive feedback to the service and process teams regarding networking and installation initiatives.

  • Ensure proper configuration and secure loading of equipment in the van/truck.

  • Capture electronic customer signatures upon transaction completion and process paperwork as required.

  • Load/off-load trucks and train new Delivery Drivers on new products and proper loading techniques.

  • Follow accident/incident reporting guidelines.

  • Conduct cycle counts and inventory reconciliation as needed.

  • Reconcile inventory at the end of the day and report discrepancies.

  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, stair climbers, and pallet jacks.

Qualifications:

  • Safe driving record and history.

  • Online technical training focused on networking and installation.

  • On-the-job training with field technicians at customer locations or Transfer Centers.

  • Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle per FMCSR regulations.

  • Valid driver’s license and medical card, with a minimum of two years of medium-duty truck driving experience.

  • Pass a road test and meet the age requirement (at least 20 years old).

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.

  • Valid commercial driver’s license if applicable per state regulations.

  • Ability to read maps and use electronic GPS.

  • Willingness to stay overnight if required based on DOT regulations or peak periods.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Capability to handle oversized and overweight equipment safely.

  • Strong customer presentation and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, and basic computer skills.

  • Adequate technical skills for equipment installation and networking.

  • Methodical problem-solving approach.

  • Good reading, math skills, and legible handwriting.

  • Potential certification for operating warehouse equipment.

Working Conditions, Mental, and Physical Demands:

  • Adherence to safe lifting or moving procedures and road rules to avoid serious injuries.

  • Frequent physical activities like stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling to service equipment at floor level.

  • Physical effort in lifting equipment weighing up to 100 pounds and moving items up to 1000 pounds.

  • Diverse work environments including office, warehouse, and truck, with adequate lighting, ventilation, and normal temperature and noise levels.

  • Exposure to chemical solvents and cleaners.

  • Ability to work independently.
