Ford Motor Company Principal Systems Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona

What you'll do
Design, develop, and deploy sensor systems and electronic hardware for real-time data collection in manufacturing processes.
Integrate sensors with factory systems, including PLM, MES, and shop-floor platforms.
Prototype hardware solutions to solve manufacturing challenges.
Build scalable hardware and software solutions to support predictive analytics and process improvements.
Lead PCB design, electronic manufacturing, and data integration efforts to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
Manage factory-wide deployments of IoT sensors and systems.
Work with external vendors to align design, production, and testing requirements with project goals.
Drive continuous improvement through testing, root-cause analysis, and problem solving.
Provide mentorship to junior engineers and technical guidance on complex projects.
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of experience in systems engineering or hardware design, preferably in manufacturing.
Expertise in sensor systems, electronic hardware development, and real-time data integration.
Experience in PCB design, layout, and fabrication, including DFM/DFA/DFT methodologies.
Proficiency in PLM/MES system integration and platforms like AlBum, Teamcenter, or equivalent tools.
Experience with manufacturing sensor networks, IoT devices, or edge computing.
Ability to manage cross-functional teams and vendor relationships.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to address manufacturing challenges effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in robotics or industrial controls programming.
Background in low-level hardware and firmware development for data acquisition systems.
Familiarity with manufacturing analytics platforms and predictive maintenance strategies.
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Certifications such as IPC CID/CID+, PMP, or Six Sigma are a plus.
