JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Learning and Development Specialist.
Reporting to the Section Manager, Learning & Development, this position is responsible for providing comprehensive consulting and delivery of training, learning and development services.
*KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES *
Prepare and facilitate engaging classroom training sessions as the primary responsibility, ensuring active participant involvement and achievement of learning objectives to meet diverse participant needs, aligning with organizational goals.
Act as the primary learning contact and advisor to support target client development, learning and training needs (leadership behaviours, technology and systems) to meet business needs, and performance outcomes.
Plan, organize and conduct needs analysis/assessments including but not limited to job and task analysis in order to recognize skill and/or knowledge gaps.
Based on existing frameworks and training courses, develop, design, revise, and approve training, including systems, materials and lesson plans for training participants. Incorporate management and organizational theory into practice through learning and training programs, as applicable.
Monitor and evaluate training programs for program effectiveness on an ongoing basis.
Provide subject matter expertise (SME) related to training technologies, instructional methodologies and discipline specific knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS
Four-year university in business, human resources management, humanities and social sciences.
Requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant learning experience.
Previous experience in adult learning.
Requires a good knowledge of computer software applications, such as Excel and Power Point to prepare training plans, presentations and reports.
Skilled in facilitating educational experiences for seasoned adult learners.

This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. This position will be temporarily based in Pickering, ON until the move to Headquarters in the Summer of 2025.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
