JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Manager Training, Mechanical Maintenance.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Training, Fleet Maintenance, this position is responsible for facilitating, developing, implementing and monitoring of safety training and organizational development programs with Mechanical and Civil Maintenance for our Nuclear Generating Station. The Mechanical Maintenance training program consists of millwright, machining, tool and die, welding, pipefitting, valves, pumps, compressors, dryers, hoisting and rigging, heat exchangers, and scaffolding.
*KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES *
• Act as a liaison between the Pickering and Darlington sites and the broader training organization.
• Responsible for analyzing, developing, implementing and maintaining a training plan based on identified needs consistent with the established site required positional profiles;
• Develop and implement strategies with site management teams that contribute to programs that are aligned to OPG’s strategic direction;
• Monitor and measure training programs; use various evaluation techniques to determine program effectiveness on an ongoing basis. Adjust to continuously improve and ensure continually aligning training programs to the needs of the business, mandatory skill and knowledge development and succession planning;
• Responsible for controlling all training activities at sites while conducting needs assessments and reviews;
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to promote, plan and analyze that training programs are appropriate, effective and timely;.
• Oversee the administrative functions associated with training and development and the annual training plan to ensure it is well organized, communicated and executed;
• Report on effectiveness of training programs, provide ongoing feedback and report on any trends, training issues, and/or concerns as they arise; and
• Keep informed on developments in training technologies, best practices, emerging learning and development trends, methodologies, products, and tools. Make recommendations to the business and to the Leadership training team as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult Learning & Technology, Mechanical, or Electrical
• College Diploma with specific industry experience in trades or nuclear
• 433A Industrial Millwright Certificate of Qualification, 426A Construction Millwright Certificate of Qualification is an asset
• 309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician Certificate of Qualification, 442A Industrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification, or 447A Instrumentation & Control Technician Certificate of Qualification is an asset
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience; focus in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Maintenance, organizational development, training and development with strong experience and exposure to adult education
• Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members
• Consultative approach, strong presentation and group facilitation skills, comfortable in managing and advising on all required training programs;
• Must have ability to multitask and prioritize numerous deadlines as well as catering to wide variety of clients in different geographical locations at one time.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and communicate effectively;
• Strong interpersonal skills, knowledge, and experience in building, shaping, and maintaining productive relationships and strong partnerships across business units and among a wide variety of stakeholders and vendors. Looking for a highly collaborative, self-aware, and effective team player;
• Solid business acumen and ability to navigate organization and support systems to deliver results while working in a cross-functional environment;
• Experience working for an organization with a highly technical workforce/unionized environment is considered an asset;
• Previous experience working for a highly regulated industry such as; utilities, energy, mining, oil & gas, manufacturing, health care, telecommunications, financial services, or public sector (Broader Public Services, Municipal, Provincial and or Federal Government) is preferred; and
• Advanced proficiency in Excel is required along with the ability to obtain, manipulate and interpret big data on a regular basis.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
