UPMC Athletic Trainer - Physician's Clinic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

- In this position, you will collaborate with and assist other medical providers in providing patient care in the Physician’s Clinic at UPMC Freddie Fu Sports Medicine Center in Pittsburgh.
As a staff member in our program, you will be part of a team led by world-renowned sports medicine experts that work in state-of-the-art facilities. We have comprehensive physician, imaging, physical therapy, concussion, nutrition, and sports performance services that serve as resources to you.

External/qualified candidates will receive $10,000 with a 2-year commitment for full-time and floater positions.
Assisting with patient throughput, intake, and scheduling
Serve as liaison between patient and provider
“Pre-screen” athletes on physician’s schedule the day before
Check insurance information
Gather information from athletic trainer/EMR
Initial assessment/intake at time of visit
Take vitals
Order x-rays as needed
Set up injections, PRP, procedures
Assist with ultrasound
Communicate, fit, and dispense DME needs
Home exercise program education
Provide all necessary paperwork, follow up, plan of care, RTP, restriction notes
Follow up with referring athletic trainer
Document visit and plan of care in EMR
Assist with coordinating post visit care
Assist with answering Epic messages
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science or Art degree.
Ability to quickly establish rapport with students, physicians, staff and co-workers.
Highly organized and able to prioritize assignments.
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to worksites within local area required
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Certified as an athletic trainer by the Board of Certification (BOC).
Licensed as an athletic trainer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Emergency Cardiac Care based on AHA standards including both didactic and skills demonstrations. Course must include following areas: adult & pediatric CPR, AED, airway obstruction, 2nd rescuer CPR and barrier devices (e.g., pocket mask, bag valve mask). Proof of course completion must be presented within 30 days of hire.
