University of Pittsburgh Computational Data Analyst in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Computational Data Analyst
Assists in the execution of research objectives, data collection, and data management. Performs routine procedures, statistical analysis, scientific analysis, and reporting. Integrates data and data sets, performs descriptive and exploratory analysis, and creates routine reports and analysis reporting tools. Utilizes statistical software and adheres to all protocols per Lee-Oesterreich Lab SOP.
Data Management
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data management
Organize and maintain research databases including management of AWS and HTC data
Ensure data quality and integrity
Assist in data collection and storage processes
Manages a comprehensive tracking system for sequencing projects, systematically documenting and monitoring the relationship between individual sequencing projects and their associated biological samples
Data Analysis
Conduct computational analysis of research data
Apply statistical and bioinformatics techniques to interpret results
Collaborate with research team members on data-driven projects
Contribute to the preparation of reports and publications
Collects, organizes, maintains, reviews, and integrates data and data sets to support analysis and study design.
Performs descriptive and exploratory analyses.
Creates routine reports, charts, exhibits, and other relevant data summarizations and analysis reporting tools.
Utilizes statistical software in analysis and interpretation of research data.
Adheres to research protocols; ensures compliance with all regulations.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in computational biology or related field
- Proficient in R programming
- Experienced in handling sequencing data
Capable of independent work with minimal supervision

Essential Functions
The Data Analyst must be highly organized with a strong attention to detail. The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills with meticulous documentation skills. They should be analytical, and data driven with the ability to support multiple projects. They will need to be well versed in computational tools and statistical software's to successfully perform their research.
Physical Effort
Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
