UPMC Imaging Services Student Tech (Casual) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Are you a second-year imaging student looking to get your foot in the door with UPMC Children's Hospital? Interested in gaining hands-on experience within Cardiology, while maintaining flexibility in your schedule? Look no further!

UPMC Children's Hospital is seeking a casual Imaging Services Student Tech to join their Echocardiography team!

The Imaging Services Student Tech will be able to work a flexible, rotating schedule with no holiday or on-call hours required! The student is permitted to work up to 8 hours per week, and can coordinate availability around their school schedule!

The Imaging Services Student Tech may perform imaging procedures at a technical level under the supervision of a Registered Technologist, incorporating learning and education with the performance of tasks to assist the Technologist in their responsibilities. This role will gain valuable scanning experience while acquiring exposure to the pediatric and congenital heart population!

Responsibilities:

  • Depending on modality, may utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data and complete procedures according to protocol under the supervision of a Radiologist or Technologist.

  • May perform daily equipment inspections, warm-up procedures, and follow Quality Control Program under supervision of a Technologist.

  • Assist Radiologist and Technologist setting up contrast; however, will never be responsible for loading or priming the injector.

  • Obtain quality images while following radiation safety standards and protocols.

  • Assist with positioning and performing exams, but should never hold the detector or patients for Radiation procedures.

  • Arrive patients, track exams, scan scripts, and schedule exams in the Radiology Information Systems.

  • Assist Radiologist and Technologist in performing modality-specific exams.

  • Maintain clinical proficiency for all completed competencies and equipment skills.

  • Must be an active 2nd-year student in an ARRT, ARDMS, CNMT, or NMCTB approved school.

  • Students studying echocardiography or a related cardiology program preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
