Robert Half Network Engineer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Network Engineer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This role is within the Information Technology department, where you will be instrumental in the planning, design, and development of enterprise network technologies. Your responsibilities will include processing, maintaining, and monitoring customer applications and accounts.
Responsibilities:
• Actively participate in the analysis, planning, design, and development of enterprise network technologies
• Focus on the engineering, implementation, and administration of networking technologies for various campuses
• Engage in service delivery functions of the Network Engineering team
• Maintain proficiency in all aspects of enterprise-level voice and data networking with a focus on Cisco, Juniper, and other vendor LAN, WAN, WLAN wireless technologies
• Execute network changes and upgrades in alignment with network architecture and departmental goals
• Perform hands-on testing and integration of new production network technologies and upgrades
• Provide Tier 3 technical support for troubleshooting and problem resolution for all network systems and infrastructure
• Engage with customers and other departments within the University and provide subject matter expertise in the areas of Information Technology and networking
• Maintain, create, and update network diagrams and documentation
• Leverage modern network operations toolsets through software development principles and network automation
• Understand and implement cloud networking techniques.
This role also includes on-call duties to address network problems and provide extensive problem-solving and leadership to the Network Operations Center and associated departmental teams. Requirements • Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role
• Proficiency in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, and Cisco Routers
• Expertise in Cisco Technologies, AB Testing, and Backup Technologies
• Familiarity with Computer Hardware and Configuration Management
• Experience working with Datacenter, Azure Active Directory, and Azure SQL Database
• Strong problem-solving abilities and capable of multitasking
• Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with team members and stakeholders
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field is preferred
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or CCIE are desirable. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
