UPMC Research Project Assistant WPI - The Biofluid Biomarker Laboratory in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The Biofluid Biomarker Laboratory in the School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh, directed by Dr. Thomas Karikari, is dedicated to advancing biomarker research in neurodegenerative diseases. We are seeking an outstanding Assistant Research Coordinator to assist with project coordination and administrative functions for the research projects and provide general administrative support to the team.
This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities:
Handle both administrative and research job duties as needed for research protocol(s).
Maintain the team calendar, scheduling meetings and recurring events, ensuring applicable equipment is available and ready for meetings, and take meeting minutes
Handle all special projects for research protocol(s).
Schedule meetings with the PI for both internal projects and external collaboration.
Attend and provide information/reports from outside meetings as they pertain to research and laboratory projects in general.
Share responsibility of managing the day-to-day activities for the research project(s).
Assists with submissions of contracts, grants, and manuscripts.
Responsible for tracking equipment maintenance, staff completion of training requirements, and maintaining other regulatory documentation.
Monitor research project budgets and expenditures, submit purchase requisitions for supplies and equipment, processes disbursements, reimbursements, and pay invoices; monitor inventory to ensure adequate supplies are available for research project needs.
Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree required preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology, or related research field.
Minimum of two years of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
Prior supervisory and/or project management experience preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Act 34 with renewal
