Job Description

Position Title:Dimensional Inspector (In-Line)

Position Status: Hourly

Reports to:Lead Inspector

(Quality Manager as required)

Position Summary:Under the supervision of the Lead Inspector the Dimensional Inspector will be responsible for measuring/visualizing all material throughout the running time of machines. The Dimensional Inspector must communicate daily with the Lead Inspector, Inspection Coordinator and Production Supervisors to determine proper decision making for conformity of material in process. The Dimensional Inspector is responsible for monitoring the follow through on corrections made by production to evaluate conformity and must execute documentation of all inspections performed. The Dimensional Inspector must have a general understanding of compliance with IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9100:2016. Must be able to effectively communicate in a team-oriented environment and effectively work with production to ensure expectations are met.

  • Ability to demonstrate competency throughout QMS.
  • Ability to understand Blueprints/Inspection Documentation.
  • Must be able to work with all levels of team members on the shop floor.
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely manner to allow reaction time for stopping/correcting during productivity.
  • Must understand all visual inspection methods, dimensional inspection methods and review with production supervisors daily.
  • Ability to understand levels of identified material and attach tags to bins identified with (red, yellow, and green) based on conformance of material.
  • Understanding of visual/dimensional defect terminology is required.
  • Ability to have risk-based thinking and stop production once approved fully competent in decision making.
  • Must follow all policies outlined in Rex Forge Employee Handbook
  • Routinely review all customer complaints and understand criteria to catch material during production run.
  • Attend/Request training with Quality Manager as needed.
  • Routinely review all First Piece approval at the start of every production run.

Essential Job Requirements:

1+ years of experience in manufacturing with quality background

Ability to routinely clean and organize workstation.

Ability to communicate with management/supervisors at various levels in shop floor environment.

Ability to deliver transparent and accountable results.

Able to understand work instructions and safety procedures.

Ability to handle exposure to all temperature changes, high noise levels, and safely working around moving equipment.

Attention to detail is critical.

Ability to lift 50+ LBS.
