UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN- PLATTEVILL Lecturer of Music Instructor of Trumpet in PLATTEVILLE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Summary: The Department of Performing & Visual Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is looking for a pedagogically driven and artistically diverse Lecturer of Music/Instructor of Trumpet & Jazz Ensemble with an anticipated start date of August 25, 2025. Responsibilities for this position include leading the trumpet studio and being the director of Pioneer Jazz Orchestra. Candidates with teaching experience and those who are artist-level performers in multiple genres are encouraged to apply. This is a part-time position (10 credits) with a full-time equivalent salary of \$40,000, per academic year. Gross compensation is based on percentage of appointment and appointment dates. Estimate gross salary for a 66.675% FTE appointment would be \$26,670 per academic year. Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include serving as the Instructor of Trumpet and managing all activities related to the trumpet studio, including teaching all applied trumpet lessons, master classes, trumpet choir and directing a jazz ensemble. Additional duties will be assigned based on the candidate\'s abilities and background. Ability to engage modern pedagogy to teach undergraduate students through individual and ensemble settings. Record of artistic achievement, teaching and organizational excellence. Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with colleagues to complete tasks and goals. What You\'ll Need to Succeed: Master of Music with a minimum of one year experience teaching undergraduate courses/lessons as an instructor and/or professional performer. OR Bachelor of Music with a minimum of 10 years as an educator and professional performer. Expertise in trumpet performance (multiple genres), trumpet pedagogy and jazz ensemble direction. A strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education in a liberal arts environment and a willingness to collaborate with both students and faculty.
