$18.50-$31.50 Per hour
The Shop Mechanic is responsible for all maintenance and repairs of fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure they are operating efficiently and safely. This can include routine inspections, preventivemaintenance, troubleshooting issues, and conducting emergency repairs on-site or roadside as needed.
- Actively engaging in company safety programs, including attending safety briefings, participating in one-on-one safety discussions, and promptly reporting any close calls or near misses.
- Promoting a culture of safety by making informed and safe decisions during all mechanical tasks.
- Contributing to the investigation of safety incidents related to mechanical work and ensuring that all recommended corrective actions are implemented.
- Adhering to all safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, Motor Vehicle Safety
- Policy, and Drug & Alcohol Policies, while working on fleet vehicles and equipment
- Prioritizing quality service and prompt responses to maintenance and repair requests to minimize downtime of fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance performed and upcoming scheduled services to ensure accountability and proper tracking.
- Executing maintenance and repair tasks with a focus on professionalism and high-quality standards to enhance the performance and longevity of fleet vehicles.
- Keeping the work area and maintenance facilities organized and clean, including tools and equipment, to promote a professional environment and ensure operational efficiency.
- Conduct thorough road tests and inspections of Ready-Mix trucks and related equipment to assess their condition and accurately diagnose needed repairs.
- Repair and rebuild hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Disassemble, adjust, and repair or rebuild drum and disc braking systems, valves, master cylinders, and both pneumatic and hydraulic controls for safe operation.
- Fabricate custom parts and modify equipment to meet specific operational requirements.
- Adjust, repair, replace, and rebuild carburetors and fuel injection systems to enhance engine performance and fuel efficiency.
- Install, troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and rewire electrical systems and components, including ignitions, signals, lights, and computer-controlled systems.
- Repair and replace suspension and steering components to maintain vehicle handling and safety.
- Adjust and repair automatic and manual transmissions, differentials, power take-off drives, clutches, and associated drivetrain components to ensure smooth operation.
- Utilize welding and cutting equipment to perform repairs and modifications on equipment as needed.
- Execute on-site field repairs for stationary or disabled equipment to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall team objectives and operational needs.

- Communicate openly, honestly, and professionally with co-workers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to promote a positive and productive work atmosphere.
- Work alongside team members to accomplish tasks and projects as directed by management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Must have a valid CDL B license and a good driving record
- 3-5 years' experience or degree in Heavy Equipment, Truck and Diesel Technology in lieu of experience is preferred
- Ability to independently maintain, repair, and accurately document services performed on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Journeymen experience in diesel engines.
- Extended hours during season April-October
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Must be able to lift to 50lbs
- Exposed to mechanical equipment and moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Noise level is moderate
