Position Summary

The R&D Engineer I develops innovative products that address important urological, urogynecology & colorectal conditions. This role heavily involves mechanical design/analysis and product reliability with a focus on product in-vitro/in-vivo testing. The R&D Engineer I works as an extended team member across R&D project teams to understand product design and clinical usage – and develop test methods to verify product performance, execute the tests and analyze the results.

Principal Responsibilities

• Applies engineering and scientific principles to scope product designs/concepts.

• Develop new device test methods; execute tests to characterize/verify product performance and safety.

• Analytically assess data and test methods to evaluate designs and down select.

• Prepare and manage test protocols and reports and other aspects of the verification and validation effort.

• Maintain sufficient and accurate technical records in an engineering notebook per company policies.

• Plans and executes assigned actions to meet overall project deadlines.

• Stay current with technology, practices, and general engineering knowledge related to the R&D Engineer field through seminars, literature, and peer groups.

• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related major.

• 0-2 years of experience (Preferred: Exposure to medical device R&D via internships, school projects etc.)

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

• Hands-on with mechanical devices and components.

• Solid verbal communication and written documentation skills including report writing.

• Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD or other CAD software

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between ($70,000 - 80,000) however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.The total compensation package for this position will also include benefits such as medical, prescription drug, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, participation in 401(k) savings plan, and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO, short- and long-term disability and parental leave, dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
