Job Description:

Collect citrus leaf samples from greenhouse and field. Extract DNA and RNA using commercially available kits, run PCR and gels. Visualize gels under a gel doc device and identify positive samples.

Prepare tissue culture media, autoclave media, pour into dishes, and move in vitro citrus plants into fresh media.

Wash pots in the greenhouse, put soil in the pots and plant citrus seedlings. Water plants as needed.

Visit experimental field plots, check irrigation and scout for pest and disease. Apply fertilizer to trees as needed.

All other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Expected Salary:

$17.00 - $19.00 per Hour, based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree in an appropriate area; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with citrus tissue culture (media preparation and culture maintenance), and with genetic transformation , plant and bacterial DNA and RNA extraction methodologies.
