Summary

The Advanced Energy Delivery Technology Solutions (AEDTS) team at Portland General Electric plays a crucial role in advancing our clean energy future through smart grid technology. We operate in two key areas:

  1. Horizontal: Serving enterprise-wide needs with AWS Cloud Data Lake, API management, data science, applications, and data products.

  2. Vertical: Supporting specific AED applications like the Outage Management System (OMS) and ARCOS Callout System.

This dual approach enables the team to drive PGE's goals of decarbonization, electrification, and operational efficiency across the organization while also maintaining critical systems for reliable service delivery.

Our team is seeking a skilled AWS Cloud and Snowflake Administrator with additional expertise in MLOps and automation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud infrastructure, data warehousing, machine learning operations, and automation practices.

We're hiring for a position open to both Senior Application Administrator and Application Administrator candidates. The level will be determined based on the successful applicant's qualifications, experience, and demonstrated skills during the interview process.

Key Responsibilities

Application Administrator 6011 (P3)

Application Support (ASUP):

  • Maintains application support processes and ensures all requests for support are handled per agreed procedures.

  • Uses application management software and tools to investigate issues, collect performance statistics, and create reports.

Configuration Management (CFMG):

  • Maintains secure configurations and applies tools, techniques, and processes to identify, track, log, and maintain accurate and current information.

Problem Management (PBMG):

  • Initiates and monitors actions to investigate and resolve problems in systems, processes, and services.

  • Determines problem fixes and assists with implementing preventative measures.

Incident Management (USUP):

  • Prioritizes and diagnoses incidents, escalating unresolved issues when necessary.

  • Facilitates recovery following incident resolution and ensures incidents are properly documented.

Porting/Software Configuration (PORT):

  • Configures software and equipment, tests platform-specific versions of software, and identifies potential improvements based on outcomes.

Systems Design (DESN):

  • Recommends/designs systems structures that meet business needs while considering performance and security requirements.

  • Translates logical designs into physical designs and produces detailed documentation.

Cloud Administration:

  • Manages and optimizes AWS cloud infrastructure and Snowflake data warehouse environments.

  • Implements and maintains AWS IAM security policies and best practices. Remediates vulnerabilities and manage patching processes.

  • Designs and implements MLOps pipelines for efficient model development, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Develops automation scripts and workflows to streamline cloud operations and data processes.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex issues in AWS, Snowflake, and ML environments.

  • Collaborates with data scientists and engineers to improve ML model deployment and performance.

  • Develops and implements disaster recovery and business continuity plans

  • Makes sure the cloud solutions are scalable, reliable, performant and cost optimized.

Senior Application Administrator 6012 (P4)

Application Support (ASUP):

  • Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for application support.

  • Manages application enhancements to improve business performance and advises on security, licensing, upgrades, and disaster recovery.

Configuration Management (CFMG):

  • Manages configuration items and related information.

  • Investigates and implements tools and processes for managing configurations and ensures information accuracy.

Problem Management (PBMG):

  • Ensures appropriate actions are taken to anticipate and resolve problems, ensuring documentation and implementation of solutions.

  • Coordinates preventative measures and analyzes trends for continuous improvement.

Incident Management (USUP):

  • Ensures incidents are handled per agreed procedures and investigates escalated issues.

  • Facilitates recovery and ensures documentation of incidents, analyzing metrics for process improvements.

  • Ensures availability of hardware, software, and resources for systems testing of platform-specific versions of software products.

  • Evaluates design options and manages associated risks, ensuring system designs balance functional and security requirements.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Certifications

Application Administrator 6011 (P3):

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, management, or another related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Typically five or more years in a related field.

Senior Application Administrator 6012 (P4):

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, management, or another related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Typically eight or more years in a related field.

  • Strong automation skills using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git, Jenkins, GitLab CI)

  • LLMOps experience is a plus.

PGE supports hybrid flexible work arrangements; and will have a combination of in-the-office and working offsite. This individual will need to be located within 75 miles from job location. However, these arrangements may change due to business needs or changes in responsibility.

Compensation Range:

$96,300.00 - $189,875.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
