Summary This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in Short Term Planning (PGSP), an organizational element of Generation Scheduling (PGS), Generation Asset Management (PG), Power Services (P), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). The purpose of this position is to serve as a Senior Technical Specialist in one of two key functional areas in support of the operation of the Federal Columbia River Power System (FCRPS) resources. Responsibilities As an Operations Research Analyst, you will: Plan, Coordinate, and execute studies of extreme difficulty and responsibility Uses judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness in deviating from established methods to modify, adapt, and/or refine broader guidelines to resolve specific complex and/or intricate issues and problems. Apply advanced scientific, and/or mathematical modeling techniques and procedures. Conduct analytical investigations using advanced scientific and/or mathematical methodology and problem solving. Analyze data through complex computational processes; compare data from various reference sources or engineering/scientific/research agencies with multiple variables to identify correlating factors; and develop new, novel or innovative approaches, methods or techniques to address problems for which guidelines or precedents are not substantially applicable. Develop new methods and criteria; and/or proposes new policies and practices. Perform, interpret, and correlate various calculations, analyses, and computations for unknown factors or relationships with multiple variables that requires considerable initiative and resourcefulness. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree: in Operations Research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-12, in the Federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as: Experience applying professional scientific or complex mathematical and statistical principles for the purpose of planning, coordinating, and executing complex studies and analyses in hydraulic operations.
