Grand Central Bakery Production Baker Lead (Swing Shift) in Portland, Oregon

Grand Central Bakery is seeking bakers for our high-volume production bakery to produce thousands of our flavor-packed rustic breads and savory pastries for our customers!
No experience necessary, we are willing to train!
Applicants for the Bread Baker position should have a passion for baking artisan bread in a high-volume production environment for our community. The Bread Baker thrives in a fast-paced environment with a team first approach and has a desire to develop their artisan bakery skills. This is a physical position that will keep you moving during the entirety of a shift.
The Baker Lead is directly responsible for working with the Production Shift Manager to ensure that accurate quantities of high quality product are produced in an efficient manner while adhering to FSMA guidelines. The Baker Lead is responsible for daily shift operations and should be actively engaged in all aspects of Bread Production during the shift including baker coaching, mentoring, and training. This position requires attention to detail, a desire to continually improve upon one’s skills as a production baker, and the ability to lead a crew while working cooperatively in a production level team environment. This position is the third of three Baker Levels.
(This position is represented by BCTGM local 114 and subject to terms of the collective bargaining agreement between Grand Central Bakery and BCTGM local 114. Priority will be given to internal candidates who apply in the first 7 days of the job posting.)

Rate of Pay: This position pays $25.94 per hour.
Schedule: Full-time (4-5 shifts per week). Day shift starts promptly at 11:00am. The ability to work weekends and holidays is required along with schedule flexibility.

Qualifications and Skills:
Must be at least 18 years old
Ability to read, write, and speak English required; English/Spanish bilingual preferred
Maintains food handler’s card – new hires are expected to have a valid card by their first date of work.
Must demonstrate regular attendance by coming to work on scheduled working days and being on time. May be required to work a variety of days and shifts to meeting business need including weekends and holidays.
Prior experience leading, training, and coaching preferred within the baking industry
Professional baking experience required
Basic math skills required
Intermediate computer skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word or comparable programs
Intermediate experience with ChefTec, GlobalBake or other ERP systems
Experience placing orders, signing invoices and checking in inventory required
Physical requirements include but are not limited to:
This position works in a building shared with production facilities is constantly exposed to wheat flour dust and other grain dusts (rye, corn, oat).
This position walks up to the equivalent of two miles per shift. This position stands for 100% of the shift worked.
This position works in warm environments.
