Job Overview
The Hubbell Internship Program is a 10 to 12-week program providing students the opportunity to gain corporate experience, learn about all aspects of our business, and prepare students with the kind of experience needed to have a rewarding career at Hubbell. The purpose of this role is to gain professional experience in a test environment.

The Engineering Intern position offers a variety of opportunities including basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, test, integration, and systems engineering. Opportunities can vary from working in Application Tooling, Utility, Lean Manufacturing, Research & Development lab, New Product Development, continuous improvement or more.
A Day In The Life
Engineering Interns will typically support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as the day-to-day operations of the engineering department. Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which will help them build a strong network within the Hubbell community.
Roles and Responsibilities will vary by Hubbell business location, but may include the following:
Perform mechanical engineering duties (3D Layout, Light Fabrication and Assembly, testing and production support) as assigned
Assist in component fabrication and testing
Work with Mechanical engineers to support any design activities
Handle part design independently to completion
Work with Tooling vendors to complete Design For Manufacturing
Write test protocols and perform the product testing as required
Responsible to run analytical tools based on requirement
Ensure designs are to exceed requirements of governing agencies (i.e., FCC and UL) and must be capable of listing with these agencies where applicable.
Work productively both individually or as part of a team
What will help you thrive in this role?
Student must be enrolled in an accredited university working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency, with preferred experience using CAD/related drawing software
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
Programming experience preferred, but not required.
Candidates should possess strong engineering and computer skills with the ability to learn new systems. Experience using 3D Cad software like Solidworks is a plus.
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, mechanics, and heat transfer is a must
Skill -- Knowledge of the practical application of mechanical engineering science and technology
Creativity and innovation essential to meet customer requirements and to improve performance, quality and cost
