Job Title: Construction SuperintendentJob Description

The Construction Superintendent will be in charge of daily field operations of specific projects. This role requires overseeing the production aspects, including production quality, ensuring all construction is in compliance with design specifications, completed on schedule, adheres to budget, and is built to quality standards. The Superintendent will implement the construction portion of the assigned project through day-to-day direction of all field activities and will be responsible for all job site activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily field activities to ensure on-time project completion and adherence to the schedule.

  • Interpret, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

  • Ensure all construction complies with design specifications and quality standards, is completed on schedule, and adheres to budget.

  • Implement the construction portion of the assigned project through day-to-day direction of all field activities.

  • Maintain several projects at once, complying with strict safety, quality, and technical protocols.

  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors and manage their work to ensure project success.

  • Generate various construction reports pertaining to safety and quality.

  • Complete daily documentation of work and understand subcontractor scope of work to avoid unnecessary change orders.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity in commercial construction, as a superintendent.

  • Experience in working on projects for government agencies.

  • Current USACE CQM certification.

  • EM-385 certification.

  • OSHA 30 certification.

  • Knowledgeable in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, tiling, architectural finishes, landscaping, doors, and windows.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Highly organized and result-oriented.

  • Computer literate with the ability to generate construction reports.

  • Eligible to legally work in the US or have US Citizenship.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred but not required).

  • Experience with federal projects (preferred).

  • Ability to work closely with people of diverse backgrounds and levels of authority.

  • Ability to take a job from start to completion.

Work Environment

The job-site is located at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA. This position will be a mix of in-office/trailer and outdoor work in varying conditions.
