Job Description

The Senior Accountant plays an important role in developing a best-in-class General Ledger department within the BSO. We are seeking individuals who are dedicated to actively participating in crafting and improving our high-performing department. Core Responsibilities

  • Perform month end closing activities, prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger records and analysis for assigned accounting entities, all in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with group accounting policies and accounting rules

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations including supporting explanations and ensure follow up on outstanding balances and taking corrective action

  • Ensure compliance to and maintenance of internal controls in accordance with the LEGO guidelines and local tax and accounting legislation

  • Prepare, review and submit statistical reports, and ad hoc financial information requests

  • Consistently adheres to company guidelines and policies

  • Support all audit-related activities including internal audits, statutory audits, tax audits

  • Act as “go to” person for the team and other process teams

  • Develop subject matter expertise to provide guidance and support to your colleagues

  • Support team leader in coaching junior team members

  • Building and strengthening basic stakeholder relations across areas and geographies including collaboration and culture (incl. Business Controllers, Treasury, CRBC, Tax, Group Reporting and our auditors)

  • Support the Team Leaders and FBP Controllers with ad hoc projects, issue resolution and continuous process improvement

The LEGO Business Service Operations (BSO) is a shared service center that delivers HR and Finance services to the entire LEGO Group from 3 locations: Monterrey, Prague and Singapore. The General Ledger (GL) department interacts with great parts of the LEGO organisation and therefore holds an important role within the Business Service Operations (BSO) supporting the EMEA region. The team manages the general ledger and collaborates with various partners to ensure compliance.

Support internal and external partners with insightful and value-adding financial analyses, recurring statements and reporting bringing value to the overall business The GL department supports The LEGO Group with consistent, high quality and customer oriented execution of GL processes and stakeholder management, and thereby enables the BSO to succeed in delivering great value to the LEGO organization.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Analytical, detailed - and high-quality oriented

  • Be robust, resilient and ability to embrace changes, as well as having a proactive mind with a can-do attitude

  • Personal drive and initiative, excellent collaboration skills and proven ability to build trust and credibility with assigned business areas or other key partners

  • Experience with an enterprise-wide accounting software system, preferably SAP at an advanced level

  • Microsoft Office at experienced level

  • Preferably proven working experience in International accounting environment

  • Experience with preparation of statutory financial statements is an advantage

  • Ability to independently resolve moderate to complex problems

Advanced English both written and verbal would be ideal as we are an internationally gathered team.
