Laboratory Technician\ Presque Isle, ME PT/Days Temporary Opportunity\ \ Job Description:\ \ Immediate opening for a seasonal Laboratory Technician in Presque Isle. Friendly, small team environment and excellent daytime schedule. Great opportunity for a detail-oriented individual looking for laboratory experience! Temporary assignment expected to last approximately four months. PT/Days; 7:30 AM 3:30 PM, Monday Thurs, 7:30 AM 10:30 AM Friday. \$18.00/hr.\ \ The Laboratory Technician will examine samples of locally acquired produce and check for signs of contamination and/or disease. Responsibilities will include sample preparation and processing, examining specimens for the presence of viral and bacterial microbes, and careful record keeping of all test results. Previous laboratory experience preferred, but not required.\ \ Responsibilities:\

• Properly sort, catalog, and prepare samples for testing.
• Organize equipment and materials for use.
• Perform visual and microscopic examinations on samples to check for evidence of disease and/or contamination.
• Identify and record findings in an accurate and consistent manner.
• Organize and submit test results.
• Clean and organize workspace, properly storing equipment and materials so that they are available when needed.
• Notify supervisor if equipment requires maintenance or if laboratory supplies need to be restocked.
• Adhere to all laboratory safety procedures and policies as directed.

\ Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent education required. Laboratory training and/or degree in biology, botany, or agricultural science preferred.
• Strong attention to detail; ability to maintain focus during repetitive tasks.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and management.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures and protocols.
