BYU Instructional Designer in PROVO, Utah

Instructional Designer

 

We are looking for a talented and motivated high school instructional designer who possesses project management experience to join our team.  The role is to design and project manage innovative and relevant courses and learning experiences that will reach both domestic and international students. Work could also include administrative duties that help maintain high quality courses such as reviewing courses for student experience and quality, collaborating with instructors, SMEs, other designers, and supervising instructional design assistants. We work in a collaborative and supportive team environment. 

 

What you'll do in this position:

  • Identify and align learning outcomes for each assigned project (needs assessment). 
  • Work with (including training and supervising) instructors or SMEs to create course outline and assessment plans based on learning outcomes in compliance with Independent Study standards. 
  • Collaborate with the Team Supervisor to establish and monitor project budgets. 
  • Identify and implement appropriate third-party learning tools. 
  • Design and develop content and learning activities in LMS to create a well-organized course. 
  • Respond to design-related issues identified by the Course Review team. 
  • Provide direction to instructional design assistants as assigned.

``` - Guide any potential 3rd-party course development teams to meet our project objectives and design standards.  - Assess 3rd-party development results with thorough review and feedback.  - Establish development deadlines with 3rd-party vendors, instructors, and SMEs.

``` - Manage complex delivery workflows from the course outline phase to the course launch.  - Maintain collaborative relationship with other IDs, instructors, and SMEs. 

 

What qualifies you for this role:

 

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU

     

Associate Instructional Designer (Level 52)

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or closely related field OR Four years of relevant experience.

     

Instructional Designer (Level 53)

  • Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or closely related field OR six years of relevant experience. 

     

Preferred

  • Experience in online teaching or creating online courses

     

Pay Level: 52 or 53
