Job Description Summary

Come join the CF34 team! The CF34 platform has 3 engine models, more than 800 customers and over 6,000 engines flying. It’s also the only Aviation program fully supported by GEIQ: Repair, Mechanical Design, Performance, Controls, Analysis, PDE, PSE, Systems and more. The CF34 LCE Design team has ownership across the -3/-8/-10 engine lines covering all Turbomachinery Modules.

We are looking for an experienced engineer skilled and passionate on the Mechanical Design discipline.

The Structures Design Engineer (E3) will work in Design projects and perform identified duties related to Turbomachinery hardware, assemblies and processes related to CF34 Engine. This will be performed in a multi-functional team environment to meet assigned objectives related to safety, fleet stability and cost benefit. The role has some autonomy, you will work to make decisions, apply concepts to solve engineering moderate challenges, and resolve issues in critical tasks while guided by experienced engineers for those cases that are high challenging.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide Mechanical Design Engineering support to improve or resolve design, repair, supplier or field issues.

  • Lead the solution of complex high-impact technical problems with minimal supervision.

  • Concurrently work on multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality, and ensuring schedule requirements are met.

  • Coach and mentor others in the mechanical design assessments of assigned tasks.

  • Document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies and/or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements.

  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments.

  • Participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews for internal and external customers.

  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal customers through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data.

  • Interact with engineers from multiple disciplines within GEIQ and globally.

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.

  • Familiar with gas turbine engine operation.

  • Proven experience as Lead Mechanical Design Engineer with knowledge in Stress, LCF, HCF, Bolted Joint, Material Properties, Manufacturing processes.

  • Tolerance, GD&T and Stack-up Knowledge.

  • Able to perform Engineering hand calculations and usage of technical standards.

  • Proven knowledge of Ansys and NX design.

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate with Senior Leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability in managing multiple own projects.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership experience.

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • Turbomachinery Design experience in Airfoils, Rotating Parts, Structures or Combustors.
