Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for bumper to bumper repair and work on diesel trucks, including Volvo trucks and vehicles with various engines. This role requires hands-on mechanical work, engine overhauls (but no engine rebuilds), and transmission repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bumper to bumper repairs on diesel trucks, including Volvo trucks and vehicles with various engines.

  • Conduct engine overhauls (excluding engine rebuilds).

  • Carry out transmission repairs.

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel trucks.

  • Work on diesel, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical components.

  • Provide training to newer technicians as needed.

  • Participate in online courses regarding Volvo software and repairs if not already Volvo certified.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with diesel engines, diesel repair, and diesel maintenance.

  • Proficiency in working with Volvo trucks and MAC vehicles.

  • Ability to inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel trucks.

  • Knowledge of diesel and hydraulic systems.

  • 3+ years of experience preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • No specific education or certifications required.

  • Diesel apprenticeship or program experience is a plus.

  • Key attributes for success include punctuality, a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to ask questions when unsure.

Work Environment

Our shop is a small, clean, and temperature-controlled environment. The team consists of 4 diesel technicians, 1 shop manager, a few administrative/customer service staff, and some salespeople. The first shift runs from 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, with no weekend work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valdosta, Georgia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00
