Job Summary:

The School of Teacher Education and Leadership at Radford University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position with primary responsibilities in teaching and research in the Doctorate of Education program. Our CPED -affiliated program centers improvement science as a research method and tool for change. The year-round, online, practitioner-based program teaches students how to solve complex problems of practice in educational systems with an emphasis on equity, ethics, and social justice. Program faculty work collaboratively to ensure a coherent, relevant, and positive experience for students.

The position is a tenure track, 9-month faculty appointment in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership with the expectation of supplemental summer teaching and advising. Local residency is required. The successful candidates will: have an active program of research, be responsible for teaching online graduate courses, advise doctoral students, and provide service to the Department, College, University, and professional organizations or other external agencies.

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in education from an accredited institution of higher learning. Candidates who have completed all doctoral work but have not yet defended their dissertation at the time of the application will also be considered, although candidates must have completed their degree by the time of hire.

  • Experience with or a willingness to learn about improvement science.

  • Candidate must value the integration of applied and theoretical research knowledge, the use of field-based experiences, and collaborative work with diverse stakeholders to effect positive change in the lives of individuals and the communities in which they live.

  • Qualifications, experience, or potential ability to teach doctoral courses in equity-/social justice- focused educational leadership.

  • Qualifications, experience, or ability to teach doctoral courses in one or more of the following areas: research methods for practitioners (qualitative or mixed methods), evaluation, design, other leadership topics, place-based education, critical social theories or other topics related to equity and justice.

Preferred Qualifications:

● A record of scholarship and practice focusing on social justice, continuous improvement, leadership preparation, and/or school-based or district-level reforms that serve low-income or other marginalized communities.

● Experience with online teaching and a familiarity with distance learning trends and best practices.

● Experience serving on dissertation committees.

● Experience in PK-12 school or school district leadership.
