Job Title: Coordinator Quality and Patient Safety Radiology
Department: Community Radiology Admin
Location: Penn Medicine Radnor- 145 King of Prussia Rd
Hours: Full Time
Summary:
- Serve as department coordinator of quality improvement, under the direction of the Quality manager by monitoring outcomes and creating ongoing performance improvement initiatives. Concentration on patient safety will be a focus of this position so that duties will be dynamic based on the needs of the organization and regulatory requirements. Work with department and institutional quality leads to evaluate care processes, prepare action plans, and education. Will collaborate with department leaders for MQSA regulations and requirements to verify all data and quality standards met. Drive ongoing performance improvement throughout department by supplying critical review of data, evaluation of opportunities to implement change, and monitor ongoing results of clinical quality outcomes. (Including internal and external reporting systems).
Responsibilities:
Clinical Quality
Support development of the annual Performance Reports in collaboration with the DCR staff
Determine opportunities for measuring clinical quality and patient safety based on evidence, clinical need and regulatory demands.
In collaboration with DCR Quality manager, monitor consistency, validity, and reliability of data for quality and safety. Discuss variations with appropriate database administrator and manager when there are discrepancies that require revision.
Implement change required to achieve the clinical quality goal through development of routine feedback mechanisms, guidelines, educational materials etc.
Participate with Team Leaders to monitor progress and barriers.
Prepare trended reports for presentation to the Quality Committees
Ensure that all initiatives are in compliance with accrediting, regulatory and institutional standards.
Maintain the confidentiality of all interdepartmental correspondence as well as with external clients regarding occurrences and data.
Develop and maintains understanding of CEQI information systems.
Supports Data Management Team as appropriate.
Will call in reports of “incidental findings for DCR radiologists, to referring providers when needed.
MQSA
Birad coding for all DCR sites
Be proficient in Mammography Coord. Module in Epic
Close loop on Biopsy cases via pathology reports and update patient chart in Epic
Reviews and supports ongoing technical needs
Periodically reviews occurrences and communication of results with administrative and clinical staff.
Is expected to support and comply with all standards for UPHS licensure
to include TJC, State and any other licensing agency.
Is expected to complete all annual in-service programs both online and on paper as established in UPHS and Department policies. Is expected to act as backup to radiology manager of Quality/Patient Safety in his/her absence.
Monitor all issues related to preparation for MQSA inspections
Support all patient safety and resource utilization initiatives. This is mission critical at this time in health care.
Compile numerical and graphical reports as needed
Must comply with administrative policies and guidelines of the Department and the Health System.
Must keep radiologist/technologists credentialing current (MQSA)
Credentials:
- Amer Registry Radiologic Tech (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
H.S. Diploma/GED (Required) And 5+ years clinical experience and a knowledge of patient safety, quality, external reporting and data analysis
Bachelor of Arts or Science And 4+ years clinical experience and a knowledge of patient safety, quality, external reporting and data analysis
