Qualus Engineer III - Civil Structural in Raleigh, North Carolina
Position Overview
Power your future with Qualus as a Civil Structrual Engineer. The Civil Structural Engineer will be responsible for completing civil engineering design in accordance with client and industry standards. Projects typically consist of new or modifications to steel substation support structures and foundations, grading and erosion control, vendor supplied structure and equipment coordination, large equipment foundations, and rigid bus analysis. Coordination with physical substation and protection and control design teams is also typical.
Responsibilities
Develop site grading designs for new substations or expansions along with access roads and erosion control measures
Develop engineering calculations to determine structure and foundation designs in a way that is presentable to the client
Develop rigid bus calculations to analyze bus sizes, span lengths, fixities, and insulator strengths
Work with designer/drafter to create a set of project drawings accurately reflecting the scope and to client standards
Lead project civil/structural team in completing design deliverables on time and within budgets
Coordinate with physical substation design team regarding substation layouts and equipment
Follow established company QAQC processes
Participant in weekly projects calls with the client to discuss RFI’s, engineering deliverables, and vendor tracking
Establish and maintain professional relationships with our clients

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering
4+ years of experience performing civil/structural calculations
Ability to perform engineering calculations in accordance to ASCE 7, ACI 318, and other industry codes
Experience with industry standards such as ASCE 113, IEEE 605, IEEE 693, ACI 336, NESC C2 is recommended
Ability to create grading designs using existing survey information is recommended
Ability to create drainage calculations is recommended
Ability to create and analyze steel structures using software such as Risa3D, STADD Pro, etc.
Ability to create and analyze foundations using software such as Lpile, MFAD, etc.
Experience in structural substation and transmission design is recommended
Knowledge or proficiency in drafting software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Civil3D is recommended
Ability to use range of Microsoft Office programs
