Intel Senior Laser and SOA designer in Raleigh, North Carolina
Job Description
Intel's Integrated Photonics Solutions Group is seeking a senior designer for distributed feedback lasers and optical amplifiers with extensive industry experience and a track record of taking designs to market.
In this position you will define and drive InP based laser and optical amplifier development from initial concept through design validation and component qualification. You will be responsible for the design, layout and analysis of test chips, and collaborate on the final integration into silicon photonic transceiver chips. You will perform tolerance analysis and optimizes components for performance, power, area, and reliability. Drives overall test chip execution and coordination including chip design, layout, tapeout, test, and validation. As design lead you are expected to analyze test data from characterizations, identify performance gaps, and drives improvement plans to achieve program goals.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in large teams, with good communication and presentation skills, as this position requires working across an interdisciplinary team of engineers.
Qualifications
Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.
Minimum Qualifications
You should possess a Ph.D. degree with 5+ years of equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related fields.
5+ years of experience in design, simulation, and analysis of distributed feedback lasers or amplifiers, including III-V epi design and optimization.
5+ years of industrial experience developing III-V based lases or amplifiers including designs that have been taken though product qualification and are in high volume manufacturing.
Additional qualifications would be a plus:
2+ years in designing test chips using Schematic Driven Layout
2+ years JMP or other statistical data analysis software
2+ years Matlab programing

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US $162,041.00-$259,425.00
*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience
Working Model
This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need.
