The primary purpose of this position is to serve as T-1 Pilot (Undergraduate or Graduate) Flying Training Program Courseware Developer and Subject Matter Expert (SME). Responsibilities 1. Applies specific pilot aviation experience to serve as Program Lead for the Pilot Training Program. 2. Keeps pace with aircraft systems, flight procedures and rules, and technology to ensure undergraduate and graduate pilot training meets user requirements. 3. Serves as authoritative courseware pilot training specialist and key member of the Flying Training System development team. 4. Prepares, reviews, consolidates, revises and analyzes current and proposed training methods, techniques, and plans. 5. Designs and develops instructional programs based upon educational technology, complex technological applications, computer applications, and available aircrew training systems and devices. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level (or equivalent in other pay systems) in the federal service in which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience which includes assisting in the planning and development of policies, regulations, programs, and procedures, training and teaching methods in addition to organizing of paper, electronic products and lessons for pilot training programs. Knowledge of methods of instruction and training media (i.e. Aircrew Training Devices, Interactive Courseware, online training program delivery). 2. Extensive knowledge of all levels and phases of T-1 pilot training and requirements of Pilot Training syllabuses. 3. Knowledge of the Instructional System Development (ISD) processes. 4. Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction. 5. Skill in written and verbal communication. 6. Ability to plan, organize, and develop studies or projects to determine, accept, and implement recommendations, where the proposals involve substantial resources, and require extensive changes in established concepts and procedures. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Additional Information Highly Desired: T-6 or T-38 pilot training experience Physical Demands: Work is generally performed in an office setting. A moderate amount of standing, walking and carrying of light items is required when attending meeting and conferences, and in visiting other offices and buildings.
