Job Description
In your capacity as a DevOps Engineer for Cloud Operations, duties will vary from maintaining uptime and availability for our cloud hosted SaaS applications, to analyzing and solving complex technical production issues. You will contribute to driving efficiency in our cloud management processes through the use of automation and infrastructure-as-code tools. Developing solutions, which are repeatable and enable the rapid deployment and provisioning of new services and continue to improve the critical services we provide to our customers.
You will collaborate with geographically dispersed teams, carry out data-center and cloud provider migrations, perform maintenance and upgrade tasks as well as deploy new services to support the release of code from our software development and engineering pipelines.
Our teams operate across multiple time zones around the globe, so this role suits candidates who on occasion may need to put in extra time to deliver to timescales as required.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Maintaining uptime and availability of our SaaS platforms.
Trouble-shoot and proactively manage highly technical system issues.
Deploy, configure, and maintain our tools, solutions, and our services operating on Oracle Cloud (OCI).
Operating and contributing to automation with our configuration management tools including:
Ansible
Terraform
Puppet
Jenkins
Ensuring that all operational and administration activities are carried out with a focus on security and operational efficiency.
Operating and contributing to our monitoring and alerting tools including:
Nagios
Prometheus
Grafana
OCI Native Monitoring & Logging
Working proactively with Cloud teams across IaaS, PaaS and SaaS service realms.
Preparing operational reports for senior leadership, management and customers.
Producing, contributing and maintaining documentation that’s supports our processes.
Participation in 24/7/365 on-call rotation to respond to critical incidents and events.

Responsibilities
Essential skills and experience:
3-5+ years practical experience in an IT role with:
Good Linux administration skills
Good knowledge in any Cloud Platforms – Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Amazon Web Services, Azure etc.
Good knowledge in any enterprise virtualization platforms – VMware etc.
Good knowledge in Networking – TCP/IP stack, DNS and Linux based firewalls, routers and IPsec VPN’s.
Good knowledge in scripting and automation – Ansible, Python, Linux Shell scripting, PowerShell.
Exposure to configuration management tools.
Solid analytical and troubleshooting skills using tools like Elasticsearch, Azure Application Insights, Grafana.
Sound knowledge of System and Network security practices.
Engagement in continuous process improvement.
Able to communication clearly to all areas of the business.
A self-starter with the capability to work autonomously.
Able to travel infrequently if required.
Desirable:
Background in using Cloud Platforms like Oracle Cloud, Amazon Web Services or Azure
Experience with running large scale containerization platforms - Kubernetes
Database Administration - Oracle Autonomous Database
Experience running large Java, Python and Ruby applications
General understanding of SRE (Site Reliability Engineering)
Experience with Cloud Automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform
Practical experience with implementing and using configuration management tools like Puppet or Chef
